:shield: Security Warnings and MEGA Sync Guidelines

To ensure you have the best streaming experience while keeping your account fully protected, please read this guide regarding MEGA’s default security policies and how our player interacts with them.

:warning: Temporary Account Lockdowns (Login Attempts)

MEGA has an extremely strict security system. Because of this, you might occasionally encounter the following scenario:

What happens: When attempting to connect your MEGA account for the first time on a new device or application (including our player), MEGA may trigger a preventative temporary lockdown, flags it as suspicious activity, and logs you out.

This is completely normal! There is absolutely no need to panic. Your account and files are safe.

How to resolve it:

  1. Go to the official MEGA website or check your registered email.

  2. Follow the steps to reset/recover your password.

  3. Create a new password and log back into our player. This process verifies and white-lists your new streaming device within their security system.

:hourglass_not_done: Sync Time for Brand New Accounts

If you have just created a new MEGA account to use with our player, please keep server propagation times in mind:

  • Sync Delay: Newly registered MEGA accounts can take up to 60 minutes (1 hour) to fully sync file structures and cryptographic keys with our integration.

  • What to do: If you just created your account or just uploaded your first batch of movies and they aren’t appearing in the player yet, please wait 60 minutes for MEGA’s servers to fully index and distribute your new library.

:locked: Fundamental Security Rules

  • Never Share Your Password or Master Key: Our player handles decryption locally on your machine—we never save or have access to your login credentials. Never post or share your password with other users on the forum.

  • Always Use Our App/Website to Generate Links: To share your library safely without exposing your private root folders, always use our official link generation tool. It creates an isolated, secure cryptographic bridge only for the specific movies you choose to share.
